Admission Criteria
Admission criteria for full and part-time Diploma and Degree programmes in acupuncture are equivalent to normal criteria for admission to an Ordinary Degree programme. We normally require and Irish Leaving Certificate with passes in six subjects (minimum grade D). The six subjects must include two subjects where at least a Grade C has been achieved on a higher level paper. GCSE O and A level equivalents or International Bachelorate or other International awards equivalent to the above are also accepted.
Mature Students
In line with National Education policy we actively encourage mature students to join the programme. A mature student is defined as a person of 23 years or older but in fact we encourage participants in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s and indeed above. These students often bring a very rich and valuable life experience to the learning situation and they are particularly well positioned to enter practice after graduation. Exceptional Entry Procedures
The College has developed exceptional entry procedures benchmarked to best practice in the Irish University System. Prospective students who do not exactly fit the admission requirements may be admitted following a careful evaluation of prior learning and experience. We have independent experienced consultants to advise candidates and to carry out the necessary evaluation.
International Students
A small quota of places is reserved for International students. The College is recognised for Visa purposes by the Visa Office of the Department of Justice for first year Diploma applicants. For Visa requirements you may contact the College for further information.
Advanced Entry
There is provision to admit students to the third of both the full and part-time programmes. Students who have successfully completed the two year Diploma in Acupuncture offered by the Shanghai Acupuncture College Ireland are eligible for admission. Students who hold other awards from other education and training providers may be eligible for entry providing the appropriate credit weight has been achieved in their current award.
